Where Stackroom is stronger
**Unlimited users on every plan.** This is structural rather than a feature row. If the office manager, the facilities lead and the person covering reception can all record a handover, the register is accurate. If operators cost money, they get rationed and records get made second-hand.
**The custody trail.** Signed handover and return with a PDF agreement, condition captured at both ends, and every previous holder retained in sequence rather than a field being overwritten.
**Equipment that is not IT.** Meeting-room AV, furniture, access cards, office equipment, tools. An IT-oriented register has nowhere natural to put these, so they end up in a spreadsheet — which is the problem you were solving.
**Audit as a distinct workflow.** A scoped count that records each item verified or missing, closes with a signature, and produces a document somebody can file.
How to choose between two similar tools
A feature comparison will not settle this one and you should not let it try. Load fifty of your own assets into both, hand a phone to whoever will actually do the scanning forty times a week, and run a real handover and a real return including the part where something comes back damaged.
Then ask a question you genuinely get asked — who had the spare laptop in March, what is out of warranty next month — and see which one answers it without you leaving the app.

Not with prebuilt connectors. The REST API accepts asset creation and updates, so a scheduled job can keep serial numbers and models current. If out-of-the-box MDM sync is a requirement, AssetSonar is stronger there.

Depends on your shape. Unlimited users matters most where many people handle equipment; asset-and-user tiers can be cheaper for a small IT team with a large estate. Run both against your actual numbers rather than comparing headline prices.
Can either handle furniture and office equipment?
